Postcard #2 for the Secret Arts 07 project. Since one of my hurriedly completed washi paper cat postcards [link] placed in the top 100 of 2006, I had to prove I could do better.

Update! >^-^< I did it! She placed in the top 100 of 2007! Of course this means the next one has to be even better...

This card measured 4x6 inches. The head and paws are polymer clay, kimono, hair, and wisteria petals are washi paper. For the record...making tiny wisteria petals sucks. I know I'll eventually do another wisteria doll and will be changing the petal design to something better.

Gorgeous. Your wisteria is very pretty. I can't imagine how much work was put into that wisteria. Wisteria is HARD!!

Well, making the wisteria may have sucked, but I think it turned out quite well. She's lovely, and this is one impressive postcard

Ohh, Fuji Musume... I love this dance! Another beautiful doll from you! I'm thoroughly impressed by your skill not only in making the neko, but her chiyogami kimono and even the branch of wisteria! Gorgeous!

Thank you so very much! >^-^<
I know I want to make another one, but larger and as a complete doll instead of a postcard. But I think for then I'll do more practice with the wisteria petals. I spent hours searching for photos of Japanese paper dolls to see if anyone had made one with hanging wisteria. I found a small picture of one little featureless doll with hanging floral hair ornaments.

I've noticed that other than kanzashi, you can't really find any good examples of handmade wisteria anywhere. Too bad since it's my favorite flower, too!
